Dish has all the markets in SD. That was part of the agreement with the FCC on getting their "we can give you locals outside your area" card back. Dish couldnt offer any local outside of your area even if a net was missing for about 4 years. Then they made an agreement that they could offer a imported station only if the market was missing one.

Directv doesnt have all the markets in SD yet...they're missing I think 16 total..yep per D* site

DIRECTV currently offers local broadcast channels in 194 markets, representing more than 99.4% of U.S. TV households, with 178 markets in HD

But with D* the newer markets are added in HD only (or MPEG4 SD if the station isnt in HD)

Two 6 foot Fortec dish with GeoSatPro dual C-Band LNB "ghetto moved" to various C-Band satellites

does dish truly have all markets now?
    i know they advertised that

and as you might recall, they did not have Salisbury MD dma until recently.
yet they advertised they had it because they brought the 1 network it did not have from 200 miles away

Salisbury was really the only oddball when they "claimed" all markets. Yes there were a couple markets missing a local here and there but they still had other locals (actual locals)

I remember the whole Salisbury debacle

oh god no. Plenty of markets that are not in HD. And in the markets where channels are imported if the actual locals are not in HD then the imported ones can't be. So as example in Mankato, MN (the market down the road) they carry CBS & Fox (their only two stations) in SD...so the ABC & NBC from Minneapolis that they get are also in SD. Conversely Directv offers CBS Mankato in HD so the folks there get 3 of the 4 stations in HD (Fox is 480i widescreen)

Check any of the smaller markets and you'll see lots of SD only markets.
