ADVERTS
I just can't friggin believe that some folks already have L616 when some of us with serious sound blip problems are still on L614.

It's called slow and methodical testing. Why give everyone a nightmare (and themselves as well) if it causes more problems than it solves?

My nightmare appears to be a dead receiver since I came back from vacation on the holidays. I can't even get it to turn on enought to tell what firmware I have. I woner if there was a serious issue with L6.15 and now it's too late.
Hopefully the technician comes and replaces the ViP722 this weekend...

I posted this in the L616 thread and I'll post it here too. I'm quoting you because not everybody wants to be their guinea pig, I never had a problem with L614 and got L615 only to break my receivers. Getting their software updates first is NOT always a good thing.
Here's a clue to Dish Network Engineering,
Can we please get the pop-up message we used to get asking if we want it to install the software update? Pleeeeeeaaaase. I don't want to be a guinea pig for you, I'm not a beta tester for you so please give me the option to NOT install your beta software updates.
Thanks.

I have L616RJKD-N on two of my 722s. For about a week now while 614 was still loaded both DVRs would switch from local channel 4 and OTA channel 4.1 to the DNFYI channel 101 by themselves. Has anyone else had this problem? Sorry, but I haven't had a chance to search yet in the forum for this problem and have been real busy the last several months to keep real current in the SatelliteGuys.US Forum.

I tested recorded and paused local HD last night (01/08) and didn't have any audio drop-out issues with L616...

You took the words right out of my mouth. Just because a percentage of users are experiencing problems with a specific pass of code doesn't necessarily mean everyone is or that everyone will benefit from the new version. We each use our systems in different ways. L614 is (still) running fine here. Leave it alone.

My 614 has audio dropouts bad so I am waiting to try the new software... Does this post in the software updates mean that 615 was sent to everyone now? Or does it mean 616 is being sent to everyone? Either way I am still sitting at 614 and can't watch a recorded local channel....

Yes but apparently there was a big enough problem that Dish felt they should spend the money to develop a new software update, which took quite a bit of time to get to us. Not only that, but when that update was apparently buggy they are now taking the time and money to roll out yet another update.
