ADVERTS
Go to DishONLINE and sort for 1080p/HD.
There is a large selection of 1080p movies.

The debate is not whether dish has 1080p, its whether they will keep doing 1080p/24 of have some 1080p/60.

All movies are filmed at 24p so it is pointless to have 60p for movies. Now some TV programs or special events are shot on video at 60p so if those were offered VOD there would be benefit. But that is few and far between.

The only change I noticed was an increased amount of "supported formats" listed under the HDMI test under the Analysis section of Diagnostics. Back when the 1080p VOD started this section only listed 1080i and 1080p24, along with the regular 480/720's. Over the last few months they added the additional 1080p30 and 1080p60.
This is probably nothing more than just an identification that my tv could show these additional formats, but is interesting that it didn't list them all when VOD first came on.

1080p over satellite in any form is a waste of time.
1. At 10' from a 50" display you cant see the difference from 1080i or 720p anyway

1080p charted: Viewing distance to screen size

2. considering the medium, satellite it will not be top quality anyway.

Not untrue, but they are doing the 1080p/24 files because they are SMALLER and easier to download than 1080i/60. IIRC
Im sure 720p is a small size, but who knows. I just bought a 55" and will be sitting 8-9 away, so I'll take 1080p.PN64D7000/BDP-93
