Direction to point Dish for Indian channels 61.5 or 148?

    ADVERTS 1
So looking at Dishpointer.com and looks like trying to hit 61.5 from Seattle (where Im setting up a dish at my brothers house for indian channels) is probably not going to happen. Elevation is like 10degrees, wont be able to clear much of any of the trees or even neighbors house. My dish network dish in ATL is pointed to the 61.5 sat.

Im thinking maybe from Seattle Im going to have to hit the 148 sat, but where Im lost is when I look at
EKB: Dish Network Channel Chart (Unofficial)

I dont see many channels listed on the 148, dont see any of the indian ones. I have the Hindi Mega pack and that is what my brother plans on getting as well.

I hear alot of talk about 148 as well, but Im wondering if the threads are old and the channels have been moved off the 148 to say the 118 (which is where im seeing some of the channels on the dishuser channel list).

So all Im looking for is which is the best bird/sat to hit from the Seattle location for just the indian channels. I dont need to point to any other bird/sat as Im only interested in just the 14 channels from the Hindi mega pack.

The Indian channels are on 118.7. 148 no longer exists.

That would explain that then. Good deal, guess 118.7 it will have to be for us. I shouldnt have any issues getting to that bird using say a Dish500 right? Again remember all I care about is pointing to that bird only with that dish, I dont care about any other birds in the sky.

Makes me also think maybe I should end up going to the 118.7 at my house in ATL, but then again if it works on 61.5 at the ATL house, no pointing moving it, right? If it aint broke dont fix it.

Gotta remember that a DBS LNB will not work with 118.7. You must use a FSS lnb, found on a Dish 500+/1000+.

Everything is on 118.7 now. As noted 148 doesnt exist

You need a D500+ or D1000+. The + gives you 118.7 which is an oddball setup and the dish is a little bigger. Dish can set you up if you subscribe

I have a used Dish500 setup, but not sure if the LNB is the one I need. We were planning on reusing this Dish and a receiver (extra one that I have).

Attached are pics of what the LNB looks like (its 110 on one side and 119 on the other side). Was wondering if this LNB will work and I can just use one of the LNBs to point to just the 118.7 bird.

it wont work. You need the special LNB for 118.7

All of Dish's satellites (EXCEPT 118.7...I'm not including 121 as its used for businesses only) are circular polarity and work between 12.2 and 12.75 Ghz

118.7 is Circular polarity but runs at 11.7-12.2 Ghz (lower frequencies) so not to clash with 119.

the LNB looks like the one on the left. It has 119 & 118.7 in one setup with 2 separate connectors

Dang..... So Im screwed with this used dish I guess. Unless I somehow magically can get the 61.5 to work (which should work with this existing dish and lnb). But having a 10 degree elevation is going to be almost impossible from just looking at the angle.

I've done a 9 elevation here in MN for a satellite. Remember the dish "sees" about 22-25 degrees higher than what the LNB looks like it is. Thats the good part of offset dishes is it may not look like its possible but it probably is (unless you have trees in the way)

The right dish is at 8.8 elevation. The left dish in those pics were aimed at 148 (15 elevation here in Minnesota)
