Switch recordings on Vip 612
ADVERTS 1
I have a VIP 612. Last night I recorded the Jets game on NFLTV and then when watching it, I wanted to stop watching temporarily so that I could watch another game on live TV. When I pressed the stop button on the remote, my only choice offered was to stop recording. So I switched to live TV, but then when I wanted to return to my game, I had to start over and fast forward. Obviously I am new to this. Isn't there some way I can leave a recorded program and then return by resume?

Use the Swap button and you go to the other tuner without disturbing your recording.

Do you pause before using the swap button? I've never used that button anbd don't know what it does.

Ya know, now that I look a bit closer at it, it may not have a Swap button. Not sure why not, it's got two tuners.

I have a swap button but I don't have PiP on my TV.
Thanks everyone, I'll try the swap button soon.

The remote is the same (6.3) as other receivers with PIP and swap. I don't think these buttons do anything on a 612.

The way it works is this:
If you are viewing live TV, but not "Recording" it, you can be behind real time, say 5 minutes behind real time, and you can swap to the other tuner and it won't change the status of the other tuner as it continues to play in the background at the delayed 5 minutes.
However, if you are "Recording" that channel, and you are 5 minutes behind real time, then when you swap to the other tuner, the original "Recording" tuner will advance to live TV so that when you swap back, it advanced 5 minutes to live TV.
The key is if the tuner or tuners are in "Recording" mode.
