No signal from 61.5 only at night?

    ADVERTS 1
Hi all - New to this forum, but a long time lurker and long time Dish subscriber. I've encountered some behavior recenlty which has me stumped and hoping someone here can help.

A couple weeks ago we had our first winter storm of the season here in PA (Lansdale - 30 mins outside of philly). It wasn't that bad, only a couple inches. During that storm (which started early afternoon at lasted late at night). I lost all my HD channels on the 61.5 sat. Signal was back the following morning when i got up. For hte last week or so things were fine, until again yesterday, I got home from work and had no HD channels again. Now, yesterday had us facing a pretty bad rainstorm in the early morning and midday, but it was well out of here for at least 5 hours by the time i got home and saw i had no signal again. So, I called Dish, who sent a technician out today around lunchtime, and everything was fine. All my sats were in the 65-80 range on signal strength and he could find nothing wrong.

Sure enough when I got home this evening from work, the HD channels (sat 61.5) are out again. I get no lock on from the setup menu, and im scratching my head at what to do next. Should I request dish send a technician out at night instead of the day? What could possibly explain the dish not working at night but working during the day? The cold perhaps?

Any suggestions/help on how to troubleshoot is appreciated. For reference, I have two dish's on my roof, and the 110/119 one is working fine for SD channels.

probably connected to a dpp twin with lnb drift or the cable connecting the two dishs is flexing in the temperature change causing a poor connection, if the technician didn't do an end to end check he could have missed something very simple. end to end means "look" at every connector in the whole system.

He only checked the connections in the house. Never went onto the roof. Now that you mentioned it, this issue started happening shortly after i had my gutters cleaned, I wonder if its possible they knocked something loose while they were up there...

You have a connector that doesn't have a good center stinger going into LNB or barrel far enough. What's happen is as it gets cold it is strinking just enough to not make a connection anymore. My guess it is the one going into the connector outside into the LNB or switch for the LNB's. Get another tech out ahv have him check connections at the dish.

you were correct. technician came out to my house (at 9:30 at night!) climbed to the roof, and found the problem with the cable. back to enjoying full HD once again...
