    Question About 1000.2 Dish

    ADVERTS 1
I am a full-time RV'er and currently have a 1000.4 dish that I'm swapping for a 1000.2 dish tomorrow. The reason I'm doing this is we'll be traveling all over the U.S. and I found out that the 1K4 dish doesn't work in the western half of the U.S. Two other reasons: you can't get DNS from All America Direct on the 1K4 dish, and the 1K4 dish is a real pain to aim. If I'm in a location where I can't get 129, I know I won't get the HD channels, but will I still get the same channels only in SD? Also, will I have an easier time aiming the 1K2 dish with my Birdog meter? Thanks for your help.

Hi Tumbleweed, the 1000.2 dish should give you a lot to work with as it was designed to work with 110, 118.7, 119 and 129. You should find most of the duplicate SD channels for your package on the 110/119 pair. After you get the dish set it up for practice and if you want to find out what satellite and TP the current channel that you are watching is on hit menu 6 - 1 - 1. Something else to consider and try if you find the camp-site has something blocking the view to the South West but has a clear view to the South East is the 119 and 129 slots on the dish might be able to receive two of the E.A. satellites if you were to change the skew. See if you can get 61.5 and 72.7 That would get you most of the programming. Or you might try a quick and dirty set-up on 61.5 - you could leave the skew set for the W.A. and still get just one satellite simply by re-aiming it. Hope this helps, DC

    delta_charlie you are confusing the 1000.2 and the 1000+, the 1000.2 dosen't see 118.7.

Hi Boba, yes I did confuse the two. No worries - all the info above (other then the 118.7 note) still applies. I don't own either; however, looking at the LNB it looks like it has separate connectors for each of the LNBs. That would give a lot flexibility on how it could be used. You could select just one LNB for a quick and dirty hookup to just one of the E.A satellites when you do not have LOS to the western satellites. Should make for a very flexible portable setup. Hope this helps, DC

[QUOTE=delta_charlie;2132564]Hi Tumbleweed, the 1000.2 dish should give you a lot to work with as it was designed to work with 110, 118.7, 119 and 129.

The 1000.2 will not pick up the 118.7 as it's signal is of another type (fss)
Maybe Delta is confusing the 1k.2 with the 1k + dish

I agree it will be much easier to point the 1k.2
If you have not downloaded the latest software to your birddog the 119 will show up as 129
the 110 will still be 110

About what is avaliable where refer to the "list" at the top of any sat guy page
it seems true that most hd channels on the 129 are mirrored in sd on the 119 with a few on the 110
