Will Direct TV LNB’s work with Dish Equipment?

I’ve been thinking about hooking up satellite TV at a small camp I have. (Or perhaps an RV package.) A friend who switched from Direct TV to Dish gave me his old 3 LNB Direct TV dish (that apparently DTV didn’t want back). I’d prefer subscribing to Dish rather than Direct TV. So my question is, will Direct TV LNB’s work with Dish Equipment? It’s an 18” x 20” dish with triple-feed, multi-satellite LNB’s with built-in-switch with 4 outputs, capable of receiving signals from DIRECTV satellite locations 101, 110, & 119.

Older ones may match Dish's legacy type lnb. newer ones will not work.

just find a cheap DN dish, craigslist, ebay have some cheap used ones

18 x 20 is a phase 3 dish LNBs are not "compatible" with DISH

the direct single lnb dishes are compatible with aiming at single dish orbitals as well. the dish you are talking about, i think no. but if you've got the time, try it.

Yes, I have a Dish subscription at my home. (1000.4 dish with a 722 and a 211k receiver) But at my camp, I wouldn’t need HD or, full time service. I so was considering an RV package however, after a friend gave me this dish…I was thinking if it works, I wouldn’t have to set-up the dish everything I’m up there. …Although a have to admit, I don’t know how the RV service works. I just know you have to set-up an find the satellites each time.

if your camp is near your home, your most simple solution is to call in a mover. call dish, tell them you've moved. give them the addy to your rv site. keep your billing address the same as your current home. when the installer comes, tell him you need a dish 500 and thats it (he'll be happy, hes getting paid to set up a 1004 for all your tvs). have him give you a tripod or nonpen mount and teach you how to aim it.
simple, and painless. you'll get the move for free provided you re-sign the lease.
people do this all the time with vacation homes, and move their receiver back and forth. dish doesnt really care, because they've kept a customer and you have re-signed a lease.--this space intentionally left blank
