722K with OTA Module locking up

    ADVERTS 1
    So here is the story:
About two weeks ago my 722K started freezing up once every two to three days..
    By this I mean that:
When switching channels, the info banner would stay on the old channel, the picture would switch, and the sound would not follow a pattern (sometimes switch and sometimes not).
At this point, the remote would stop functioning and a reset was required.
Occasionally, even this did not work and it would take 4 or 5 tries to get it back.
When it took more than one try, it would start up like it should but as soon as the channel was changed it would lock again.

I checked my temps and everything looked good except for the max (90/118/138).
Just in case, I removed the doors to my cabinet but the problem continued.

Stumped, I actually started tracking the problem and found that it only happened when switching away from a OTA channel.
After pulling the OTA module, I have not had any issues for three days now.

Based on this my assumption is that the OTA module is failing which brings up a few questions:
    1. Since I purchased this separately from DISH is it covered by the service plan?
    2. Is this a known issue that will repeat with a new module.
    3. Would the Ebay Dual Fan unit help with this or is it temperature independent.

I am planning on waiting till the end of the week to confirm it is the OTA module before contacting Dish so I am just trying to collect information for now.

    Thanks,

Interesting. I just installed an OTA module in my 722. Now if I watch tv for an extended time, I think only on the OTA channels the remote will not do anything after a certain amount of time. I hit the guide button and nothing happens. Try to channel up or down and nothing, hit the info button and nothing. The only way to get it to work again is to either hit the reset button or unplug the unit and plug it back in. This only started happening since I installed the OTA module. Has happened twice now and both times I was watching an OTA channel. Nothing happens at all, it just keeps showing the current show I am watching as if the remote has not been activated at all, can continue to watch the current channel as long as I want to no freeze up or anything perfect picture etc... Went to change channels or look at the guide and no response at all. Only way out of the current channel and to get the thing working again is to hit reset button or unplug the receiver and wait for a reboot.

That sound like the same problem to me.
Try pulling the module and see if, like mine, it solves the lockup.

I deleted all channels and unplugged the module and reinserted it after I did a reboot on my receiver: unplugged it and replugged it back in. Any problems with the ota module stopped when I did that.

I did not try deleting, rebooting and reinstalling channels. I will give that a try.

I've noticed the same problem. Must be a feature they added free of charge in software version L750 since I don't remember it happening with older software versions.

Same issue here. Never happened before L750. Your module is probably fine. Delete/Re-add is probably a waste of time. Just have to live with it until a new version comes along.

Another "me too" - same symptoms and required reboot for resolution. It started one or two weeks ago, and I just recently confirmed that I am running L750. Thus far, it hasn't locked up when recording something, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time--and then I'm likely to switch from irritated and annoyed to furious.

Yep, I'm having the lock-up situation when first tuning to an OTA station. The banner stays on the screen, receiver unresponsive to all commands requiring a reboot to get things back. Only started happening since L750.

I will have to check my software version but suspect I am up to date.
Based on the responses, I think I will wait to contact Dich about a replacement and see if they send out a fix first.
At least I still get my locals just not in HD.
