Upgrade to 622?
ADVERTS 1
Hello,
I've been a Dish customer since almost the beginning. I haven't been keeping up with the dishes/switches etc. that are now available. My current setup is:
Dish 500 w/ Quad lnb feeding 2 7100's and one 2800. Since all the receivers are single tuner jobs, only one run of coax is going to each.
I'm thinking of doing the upgrade promo to the 622, keeping the 7100's and replacing the 2800. I don't need locals as I get them from Comcast in HD with limited basic.
Can anyone give me a rough idea of what the install would entail?

Not quite sure where you're living at; it does affect the choices of dish to install. Regardless, you're going to have to have at least a DP34 or DPP44 switch installed (depending on if your HD locals are on the 129, 118, or 61.5).

Thanks. Locals aren't an issue as I can't even get SD ones from DISH. I could get 3 out of the 4 major nets from AllAmerica, but I haven't done that. Comcast is a much better deal for locals for me anyway as I get 6 networks in HD as well as local access and other digital SD channels for $7 a month.
I have the $1.99 maintainence deal grandfathered in. Does that mean any switches, etc. to hook up the 622 would be free? And would I need some sort of legacy adapter(s) for the 7100's to work with the DP34 or DPP44 switches? Would I need another coax run to the location of the 622 as it's multi-tuner?
Sorry for all the questions. I'm going to call DISH this afternoon and want to be armed with some knowledge about what I'll need. Don't have a lot of confidence that the CSR will get it right.
