Coming Soon: The Next Generation Satellite Finder (Its Released!)
ADVERTS 1
Soon the folks from DishPointer.COM will be releasing the next generation satellite finder for the iPhone 3GS.
Check out this amazing video.
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AFtcgYRcu4&feature=player_embedded"]YouTube - DishPointer Augmented Reality (iPhone Satellite Finder)[/ame]
Very surreal, this is the next generation satellite finder: Point your iPhone anywhere towards the sky and see all the satellites lined up, on the live video screen! At a glance, you’ll see where the satellite is and whether any trees or buildings are blocking the line of sight. Think of multi-lnb dishes and now you know where to place your dish best. Doing a site survey and setting up a dish is going to be a piece of cake with this app. This is a truly useful augmented reality app for the professional and diy enthusiast alike.
The app uses the gps, accelerometer, and the compass of the new iPhone 3GS. Just move the phone up and down and left and right and the satellite arc will follow the live video on the display. The compass has a bit of a lag though, so when doing quick sideways movements the satellite arc is trying to catch up but then settles to the correct position.Scott

The individual apps are useful but switching between them to get everything you need is pretty tedious. This however is just amazing! Can't wait to have this available.

Would be nice if people with 3G could use it.

It will work with 3G but you cannot move the phone laterally.

C'mon I want this app today!
I went out and bought a new phone, and even installed the new 3.1 software update.
How much longer do we need to wait?

This would GREATLY help with site surveying. I would like to see this extended for other wireless transmission such as cell phone towers, wireless internet service providers, among other things, perhaps your own point to point links.

That could take days, weeks or even months...
This is one app I can't wait to get my hands on.

I would actually buy an iPhone just for this app. This would make my life significantly easier.

That's what I did. The only thing I regret is that I didn't buy it earlier.
