IPAD
ADVERTS 1
Will diashpointer augmented reality work with either Ipad?
I understand the Ipad without 3g do not have Assisted GPS.
Is Assisted GPS required?

It will work only on the iPad 2, not iPad 1.
It will work on the Wifi and 3g+Wifi version.
The 3G+Wifi is better because it obtains your location automatically.
On the Wifi only version you would need to enter your location (latitude and longitude) manually.

In general, GPS works without 3G subscription. However, A-GPS (which speeds up locking to the GPS satellites) requires an Internet connection. I'm not sure how A-GPS is implemented in the iOS devices, it could be that you could get the A-Data while you are at Home via WIFI and hopefully the iDevice will use the data later when trying to obtain the fix - but it also could be that the device thinks that the data is too old.
