I just moved about 8 miles from my previous location. I am trying to get my Dish up and running but am having some problems. I have located the general area of where satellite 119 is located using several different sources. I have the dish pointed in the general direction and I am not getting any signal. I have the cable running from the satellite dish to a DPP33 switch, and from there to my receiver. In previous location I had 110 and 119 thus the switch. I plan to add second dish to get 110 so am keeping the switch. My questions are should I run the cable from the dish straight to the receiver and take the switch out of play until I get a signal? What transponder should I use when searching for a signal?

When I run a check on the switch it registers that a satellite is connected but the status shows Reception ERROR, is this because I have not found the signal for 119?

Thank you in advance for any help!!!

I've been searching the internet for a bit, and can't seem to come up with an answer to something.

Does anyone know if I can receive AFN (the Armed Forces Network) in the United States? I'm Active Duty Army, and just transferred from overseas back to the US. It looks like we're going to be living in a rural area in Virginia, and are kind of used to AFN. So, we're trying to determine whether or not we can receive AFN within the continental US.

Thanks for any replies out there!

Hi,

We have two 722K's with software version L667 and both of them don't respond to the remote controls after you stop a recording. The channel number buttons don't work and neither does the rewind/pause/fast forward functions. Once you hit the cancel button the remote seems to work again, but I don't understand why this is happening. It wasn't like this before. Does anyone know when they might get to fixing this problem? Thanks.

I'm trying to get a Turbosight TBS6981 PCIe dual tuner card running in a Ubuntu 10.04 HTPC. The card comes with a set of S2 API Ver 5 drivers which were built and installed.
I am very new to satellite systems, bought a Geosatpro 90cm dish and DSR200 receiver with a SG2100 motor to move the dish. I am pointed at a sat getting good SQ, but the TBS card can not tune or scan.
Does anyone have any constructive suggestions to help troubleshoot the problem?

My current Dish 311 receiver, which replaced my C-Band several years ago, is located in a utility room in the basement, operated by an IR to UHF remote. I have an Amp/Signal Combiner for the Sat and OTA as well. When the house was build 16 years ago I ran RG6 to each room from a splitter in the utility room as needed. I use an OTA for my locals to receive an excellent digital picture on both my old CRT TV’s as well as my LCD TV. With the 311 the picture on the LCD is not near as clear as the OTA signal. Question is, If and should I upgrade to the Dish VIP 211 and will that work with my existing RG6? Does the 211 require a different dish? Can I operate the 211 with an UHF remote? Should I lease ($100) or purchase ($200+) from Dish or can I get elsewhere and still be able to get the free HD for life? Do I have to use the HDMI for anything, hoping the RG6 will carry the signal?

Checking today I have noticed that signal strenght has increased dramaticaly scince yesterday. Dish must have change something to the power output of this sat because the change is not subtle. Some TP's have incresed by a margin of 10 to 12 points for me, here in Puerto Rico. Please recheck your readings in your area and report. Digi do you know if Dish did something today to boost power on Echostar 15?

Maybe Scott can shed some more light on this:

News Digest
Dish Network Could Lose Fox Programming
TVPredictions.com
Washington, D.C. (September 8, 2010) -- Dish Network subscribers apparently are facing the possibility of losing some Fox programming networks on October 1.

Some local Fox affiliates are now posting notices at their web sites saying that Dish may stop carrying Fox Sports, FX and National Geographic on October 1. And the satcaster could stop carrying the local Fox affiliates on November 1, the notices say.

If an agreement is not reached, it would mean that Dish viewers would lose everything from Fox's new fall season to regional sports broadcast by Fox Sports channels to Sons of Anarchy on FX.

While neither Fox or Dish Network have issued press releases, the notices would indicate that the two companies are having trouble negotiating a new carriage agreement.

Battles between TV providers and programmers have escalated in recent months with programmers asking for increases to carry their lineups. In June, Dish was forced to drop four Disney high-def channels when it could not reach a new carriage agreement with the programmer; the channels are still off the air.

See more below.

__________________________________________________ _____

At MyFoxDFW.com, the web site for the Fox Dallas affiliate, WDFW, the warning notice says Dish subscribers should go to getwhatIpaidfor.com to get more information about the impasse. However, as of this afternoon, the web site had not been established.

The notice also says viewers can call 1-877-99-I-PAID for more information. The line was busy when called today several times by TVPredictions.com.
