ADVERTS
I think Vanished was originally scheduled to return tonight, but the rainouts in the world series wiped that off the map for another week.

Zap2it reports that Vanished needs to retain most of its viewers from Monday night if it wants to get a "back 9," of shows.
But in
this article
they provide a lot of backstory - explaining where the show is going, if it lasts...
Here is a snippet:
In the last episode before the hiatus, Agent Kelton was gunned down after revealing to Sen. Collins that Sara, briefly thought dead, was actually still alive. Now FBI Agent Daniel Lucas (Eddie Cibrian) has taken over the case.
"If people were surprised by the end of episode six," Berman says, "which is Graham Kelton getting killed, just wait until they see the ends of episodes seven, eight and nine.
"This is not a show that's just about a kidnapping. With the death of our lead agent, we're exploring a whole new world. The disappearance of Sara leads to the discovery of Chapter 40 of Ezekiel of the Dead Sea Scrolls, which is the chapter of Ezekiel that wasn't discovered when the other Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in 1947.
"So we're actually building on a real mythology, taking something that's super-cool and delving into it."
CORRECTION: Another source, THE FUTON CRITIC, reports that although FOX is considering more scripts, the show will wrap for the year after 13 episodes. Future episodes would be for a second season.

Just saw the first episode since the hiatus - which probably is going to be the death of the show -- it was not bad. But then again, I am one of the few watching. I just hope some of the questions get explained before it gets canned.
It looks like some of mystery will get a bit more clear next week -- in a kind of DaVinci Code; National Treasure/The Book of Fate kind of way...

I really liked this episode. It answers some questions and it looks like we might get closure before it's over.

Vanished is vanished for the rest of sweeps.
Supposed to return with Justice, also vanished, in December:
Both series however are set to return next month - "Vanished" on Friday, December 1 at 8:00/7:00c and "Justice" on Monday, December 11 at 9:00/8:00c

Justice yes... Vanished is vanished to the ON DEMAND recycle bin....
Gale Harold's character is dead and so is "Vanished."
In a bit of coy misdirection, FOX announced late Thursday that the concluding episodes of "Vanished" will be available streaming OnDemand on the network's MySpace platforms. Available on TV? Not so much.
Instead, FOX will burn off four new episodes of "Justice" for the month of December. That drama has also reportedly ceased production already.
The unaired "Vanished" episodes will premiere on Fridays OnDemand, leaving viewers with the difficult choice between streaming FOX's elaborate cancelled kidnapping drama or NBC's elaborate cancelled kidnapping drama ("Kidnapped").
The "Vanished" finale will be available for streaming on Friday, Dec. 8 just in case anybody actually cares why the Stonecutters kidnapped Sara Collins in the first place.
The final new episode of "Vanished" will have aired last Friday (Nov. 10) to an audience of under 2.88 million viewers, which would even make it the fourth least watched program on The CW. That's not good.
For the season, "Vanished" averaged 6.5 million viewers, though it was averaging 7.45 million while it aired after "Prison Break" on Mondays pre-baseball. Gale Harold fans would like you to believe that the on-screen death of the show's leading man lead to the ratings collapse, though issues of quality and Friday night audience size were probably equally complicit
