    AMC6 on a 18" dish

    ADVERTS 1
got bored yesterday so I monkeyed around on the system (huh imagine that)
Added a LNB for 110 on the Glorystar system....that left a 18" dish sitting there lonely. Thought "61.5?" then I realized after the C-Band multiswitch issue that left an open port on my Visionsat setup. Thought "maybe 72?" just for a couple channels...but on a 18" and enough signal? Huh, lets see

Got the dish info from thelist and grabbed my old KU LNB holder for a 18" dish (I got this a while back from someone. They had it when ExpressVu was KU Band). Well part of it is broke so we got everything set up and duct taped the hell out of the bracket onto the dish.

Skew is very critical so set to -20 which is what it should be and swung dish to vicinity...BAM 40 quality..

tweaked it and have 65-70 on the active transponders out there. Put some plastic around the duct tape and then duct taped that too to keep from the bottom stuff getting wet

so if you have a 18" or Phase II laying around and want to use it...try 72W...strong beam

    pics
yes the dish is bent there at the corner. That was so I could get the Primestar at 123 and the D300 at 110...also are pics of Primestar with 119/123/129 and Glorystar with 97/101/110

    Love the Duct Tape!!

Great setup ICE! - - - I guess you don't know until you try.

Was this setup hard to get pointed correctly??

I have good LOS and my old SA dish - - - might try similar setup.

skew is the most critical honestly. I put it to 20 and got the elevation to what it should be and went in the general area. Since I have the P* dish at 74W I knew approx where to aim.

I got more than 5 off skew and quality plummeted

I'm guessing GBN and the other Christian channel showed up on there with zero issue --- both are 99% on a 31" dish. Otherwise, a few feeds that peak out a standard Ku dish is my best guess.

Good! I have now AMC6...In this moment I'm listening to melodic choruses and admiring beautiful scenery!

    I use today a 33" dish..got 99% Q.... very fast....no problem (very large stone for the toad)

    Blind scan catch some feeds...
I need to do tp scan to get both FTA channels....

I almost complete my Ku-birds collection of on my farm...

sadly the only thing now I get on the 18" is GBN....the rest don't come in. So I moved the dish back to 110

IŽll keep AMC6 with the large dish...that bird has many feeds... Now the best feed suppliers are 72W, 74W and 79W.
