Can anyone elaborate on the "NBC" feeds that Lyngsat shows 83 West as having? Do the feeds come and go? Are there color bars when there are no active feeds? Any good stuff there?

    Thanks..

    >>>> Everyone should look into upgrading their OTA capabilities and get a deep fringe outdoor antenna ( with a rotator) and use a 30 db MAST MOUNTED amp. This adds a new dimension to the meaning of "FTA".

I believe that TP is just a "beacon" so the remote news crews know where they are.

once in a blue while there is a news feed but basically that's all most of the TP's on that satellite are

for news feeds. If you scan 11700-11800 H around supper time they usually light up

They start feeding stuff around 3PM east time to get it back to NBC for air on the 5 o'clock local news shows. It will be a hit and miss situation though since NBC has on line server equipment at their affiliates know as VOD NBC.

Add 20 to 83 and you get 103. Lyngsat shows "NBC" feeds at 103 West there also.

They are occasional feeds, last night around 2-3 am Pacific Standard Time i was doing my routine scans and found out that TP you mention, it was active with color bars and an ID (it only said AMC9/83), 2-3 hours later when i did my third pass of the night (my bi-monthly fine tuning of my dish) it was gone.

If you want to catch feeds also try 72ºW Ku and 74ºW Ku, i've seen activity at 3-4am (6-7am in NY), at 12pm, and around 5-6pm, i even have scheduled my bi-weekly scan for those hours LOL (6:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 4:00 PM, 9:00 PM and 1-2 AM)... you know, always on the hunt .

Oh... also a good source of wild feeds at Ku it's 105ºW Ku, and 123ºW Ku it's good for things related to show-business.

    Cheers

    Mike

I find quite a few recurring news feeds on AMC5 at 79W.
