Anik F3 at 118.8°W
ADVERTS 1
What does it take to pick up this Satellite. I saw a website that claims it takes a different LNB type?
118 / 118.7 LNB's are used mainly for ANIK F3 or 118.7. They have a LO frequency of 10.750 GHz. Note: these LNB's are circular polarization and can also be used for all DBS/DSS type satellites including 61.5, 82, 91, 110, 119, 129, 148, etc
Is this right or just a sales trick? Just wondering as there are a couple of signals on that sat I would not mind checking out.

C-Band or KU?
C-Band is a normal setup
5150 LNB LO
KU is linear circular. It is circular polarity but in the linear KU frequencies (11.7-12.2). Normally DBS is circular (12.2-12.75)
KU only has a slate channel from Dish (rest are scrambled) but C-Band can be picked up just fineWinegard 76cm dish, SG2100 motor, Sadoun dual KU LNB..... Directv Slimline SWM 3 LNB.... GeoSatPro 36" dish with Sadoun dual KU LNB... Coolsat 5000 on motorized.... Manhattan RS1933....Directv HR34 (yes the 5 tuner monster) GeoSatPro 200 to aim dishes.... few receivers not set up yet

That's correct. The bird is setup circular polarity, but at lower freqs than the other circular birds. I used to be able to get the edge of the signals using the linear side of my Invacom qph031. Every now and then , something was viewable.

LS shows them as being C band

The C-band stuff is just standard 5150 lnbf . The "special" lnbf is for the Ku band , encrypted ( or may be not) Dish Network channels.

shows as being in the clear but I have no way to tell. I don't have a dish big enough to test it out.
