Pics of my Prodelin Ku Rx only .92m

Here are pics of the Prodelin dish and feedhorn. Was taken back in the summer, so you can see the Japanese Knotweed taking over everything. When I took these pictures, it was pointed at 103W. Right now, it's permanent home, is 125W for PBS. The LNB that's attached to the feed is from Zinwell, used for reception of Muzak. I just ordered the dual polarity feed, so I'm hoping to spy on the IP data on 12120H with it too. Nice pictures, I like how you mounted it on the fence. I have a deck where I have my satellite dishes on and running out of space. This gives me a idea to mount another dish on the side of the deck...I have some extra wood lying around.

Here is the Rx only dual polarity feed kit from Prodelin. It cost me a whopping $75 for the kit, which included a new feed with a wider throat, the Ku Rx only OMT, feed mount, and mounting arms. Bit pricey, but it works well. I could never find a Ku Rx only OMT anywhere, only Tx/Rx. The Zinwell LNB was $30 too. Now I can get the horizontal signals, especially 12120H, where they are sending DVB-S2 modulated IP data. Also, it never came with a cover, but the weatherboots should keep everything protected.

Looks great! Too bad that Prodelin doesn't use a standard C-120-flanged feedhorn, or you could remove that entire waveguide assembly and replace it with a C-120 LNB such as the Eagle Aspen P870...

Tron, I think it does use a standard C-120 flanged feedhorn. You can attach the LNB directly to the feedhorn without the OMT waveguide. I got this setup so I can use two separate LNBs. I wanted to use a Norsat or Cal Amp LNB, but the Zinwell LNBs work pretty damn good. The single polarity feed also accepts the LNB directly, just like the dual polarity feed. I could have put a Invacom Quad with waveguide input on the feed instead, but I wanted the OMT and seperate LNBs, so I could drive both LNBs with 18V.

turbosat, It's odd looking because you don't see a lot of Ku feedhorns, I suppose. I know I never see anything like this unless it's a Tx/Rx feed and OMT, and the Tx side is a lot bigger. Think of this like a C band dual output feedhorn, except for Ku. I get awesome signal quality with it, just like I did with the single polarity feed.

emu-it makes more sense now that I read your explanation. For some reason I thought it was that way on purpose, where you had to have two separate lnbs , one for each polarity. Never thought about running dual=lnbfs! I imagine it would be handy for that purpose.

Many Prodelin feedhorns I've run across use a flange that looks nearly identical to the C-120 flange, but the bolt holes don't quite line up. I was assuming that this was the case here as well, but it might be a C-120. In either case, it looks like its going to work very well...
