If you're getting Dish promo channels, you're NOT on AMC4. The closest Dish satellite is 9 degrees to the west. And are you using the Dish LNBF or a linear LNBF?

That won't work for AMC4. Dish Network uses circular polarization, AMC4 uses linear polarization. There's only one model of linear LNBF that fits a DirecTV dish arm, which you might be able to make fit securely on a Dish dish arm. (DirecTV uses rectangular arms, Dish uses D-shaped arms.) Otherwise, you'll have to make your own bracket to hold a standard Ku linear LNBF holder at the correct point. Try searching the forum for "Dish 500" to see what other people have done.

    Thanks. I'll do that.
But how do I know if dish is aimed at amc4?
I get strong quality on various channels such as echo and Nimqik.

you are going to need a bigger dish due to your location. A 30" minimum...probably 36" dish and a KU Band LNB
Winegard 76cm dish, SG2100 motor, Sadoun dual KU LNB..... Directv Slimline SWM 3 LNB.... GeoSatPro 36" dish with Sadoun dual KU LNB... Coolsat 5000 on motorized.... Manhattan RS1933....Directv HR34 (yes the 5 tuner monster) GeoSatPro 200 to aim dishes.... few receivers not set up yet
Two 6 foot Fortec dish with GeoSatPro dual C-Band LNB "ghetto moved" to various C-Band satellites

Thanks. I already order a linear lnb. I will try it with present dish 500
If it fails I will purchase a larger dish.

If you get 3ABN, you are on AMC4. 3ABN is very easy to get.
