Thread: DVBWorld 2104 and which processor?

Hi Folks. I just received my USB box from Sadoun and need some guidance on the computer to connect it to. My application will be to replace the current Sonicview 8000 STB with this usb box connected to a computer next to the TV in the living room. I'm planning on connecting the computer to the VGA input on the TV. I'm looking for some thoughts on what might work in terms of processor/PC.

I had been thinking about picking up a mini desktop to do this with. I have a full size dual core that I could use, but it just takes up so much space. It did occur to me that the Atom processor machines might work, but I don't know what kind of throughput is needed to drive the 2104 box effectively. Would something like an ASUS EEE desktop drive this box do you think? Has anyone tried it? Is there a better small footprint solution anyone has tried?

I had also thought about using a Mac Mini, but I already have one for day to day use, and can't see spending the money for something that will just be a dedicated satellite PC.

Thanks a lot in advance. I'd like to get this setup right the first time. I've only been in this hobby for a year now and I already have several pieces of hardware that are obsolete (to me a least) because of trial and error. Don't want that to happen with this. ;-)
