ADVERTS 1
Radar, did we ever see a picture of the dish you have pointed at 30W? You're pretty far west is why I ask.

bownze,
gardenman2002 here.
ALWRIGHT!!!!!!. I did the same thing, i do have a dedicated dish for srl package for the wife and boy, but found they are watching more of mine then theirs, so i ave dropped my subscriptions totally. i have a converted directv slimline dish with 3 lnbfs for 3 satelllites.97,101,the other lnbf has not been tuned in yet. Also i have a dedicated converted wildblue dish for amc87ku.I have a 6 ft dish mostly tuned to 99 cband and am planning to add another cband lnbf to it to get more satellites. I have a 10 ft dish i obtained for free, all i had to do was take everything i tore out. This dish is tuned to cband 103w. Both cband dishes have motors to tweak for heavy wind events.ku dishes are not motorized,so with all my dishes parked at these locations, i can receive over 90 channelsopenbox s9, 10ft wineguard dish, 6ft $50 special dish, lexium 7000 receiver,
converted dtv dish with muli-sat bracket.

Toucan-man,
No, well yes. I did post pictures of it when I first installed it as an installation / assembly and review thread of the GeoSatPro 1.2 meter dish with a DG-380 motor. But, I never took any pix of it when it was aligned at 30W. If we get a nice, warm and sunny day here and I remember to do so, I will take a snap of it when it is dialed in on Hispasat.
It is really close to the end of the travel on my motor. I think I can go as far as 28.5° with it. If I were much further west, I would have to utilize a fixed point dish to get Hispasat. I did use the solar outage calculator to determine where Hispasat was in the sky from my location. It is still pretty high. About 600 to 650 feet to the east of my dish installation are two or three old cottonwood trees that are probably 75-80 feet tall. Hispasat is right near their tops.

I want to thank the forum for all the insight, information and opinions on my dilemma. However, I think I have solved the cable tv-less situation quite nicely without the FTA setup, but many thanks to the folks who suggested Roku. That thing is the bomb! Got one for my son's tv to check it out, and 2 days later picked another up for my bedroom tv. Too cool! I'm a news junkie, and the fact that I can get news about the USA from non-US media, without US media bias...cable couldn't even do that. The kid gets all the cartoons and movies he could watch, I get my news, and the world is right again (at least, my world). FTA isn't completely off the table, but the void has been filled quit well by Roku. So until my network can't handle the usage and/or I can't afford the broadband upgrading, FTA will have to take a backseat. Thanks all!!!

Looks like I will have to wait a few days for pictures. It was gorgeous here today, hit 70°F here. That kicked the old record in the pants! Amazing for January 30 in Nebraska.
Anyway, I took advantage of the awesome weather and went out to snap a few pix of the dish aimed at 30W. I couldn't get the photos off the Kingston MicroSD chip and onto my PC. My PC won't read the device anymore. Had to order a replacement chip and adapter.
I think that I will have to recheck the solar outage calculator this March. The dish doesn't seem to be aiming as far to the east where I thought Hispasat was. Maybe the dish is giving me an optical illusion due to its tilt.

I had to buy my daughter a Apple TV so I could have my Roku back!
She likes the fact that she can interact with her other Apple products like her iPod. Another great thing for her is that she can go on YouTube as well as mooch onto my Netflix account. I am not quite sure what all it does yet but now my Roku is back except for when she snags it for Angry Birds!
