    101 (AMC4)-11822 H 5700 or 12120 V 30000
    Since this is usually for the purpose of aiming the dish, wouldn't it be easier to try to lock onto DirecTV, i.e. 12224 H 20000 ?
    Or am I missing something ?

    Yeah. DIRECTV will not lock on standard FTA.
    12224 VR BTW.

    as JohnH noted, it won't work (different type of encoding. DirecTV uses their own setup)

    But I mainly used linear for most of them unless there was no linear options (110, 119)

    Ah, I'm confusing myself somewhat - I used a Dish LNB to look at 91W, and the Mercury reported the L/R as V/H (BTW, absolutely nothing FTA on 91W other than a half dozen video promo channels, and a few audio promo channels).
    But, of course, it doesn't work the other way around.
    However, I think that if one had the Invacom Quad LNBF, then it would be somewhat easier to get 101 using the circular outputs, if they are hooked up. Maybe more trouble than the difference in detection.

    when you scan a circular, its left and right polarity but the box converted it to H & V

    R=V
    L=H

    as for the Directv, they use their own encloding.encryption called DSS. The FTA boxes only get DVB. Thats why when you scan G4 you dont get any of the free channels that are Digicipher II. The box just can't pick it up

    What about a Starchoice TP? Can you only lock on that with a SC receiver or another DCII receiver?

    I added 77 and put it as G4R. That is what is technically there right now. I also changed the IA's over to Galaxy and noted 99 that its G16 but use to be G4R
