I take it this box is a model up from the DSC-100?
One problem which drove me berserk with the DSC-100 (and its chassis-mate, the Conaxat Nano) was that the blind scan was very unreliable...thorough, but unreliable. Many times the blind scan would give up half way through and display a crazy number for the ending freqency (like "-36456"). It was obvious that some algorithm was off when it was programmed. Sometimes it would make it through one polarity and quit. But having said that, what Ice said about being able to pick up on channels no other box would find was absolutely right. Here's the test: try picking up the DMX Residential channels on 91W C band. The Fortec won't find them, and manually programming the TP in the super deluxe Nfusion box doesn't do any good, either. But the GeoSat/Conaxsat gets it every time, for whatever reason.

Proud Staff MemberThe blind scan is very reliable from what I have noticed and I've blind scanned a lot since I got the receiver and havent run into that issue.
I've worked with the receiver a good while before posting the review. The only time it "choked" is after I had blind scanned for about 2 hours straight on various satellites.University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs mens hockey team

Proud Staff Membercouple notes
-there is a new software out. If you start out factory fresh it removes the "Adventist" option on the 1st screen. Just Glorystar and Advanced
Also I noticed the maximum audio pids it shows is 4 (languages). This is OK for most stations but as an example, Salem Network (Christian radio on C-Band) there is 20+ audio pids yet it only shows the 1st 4. This has been confirmed in a Channelmaster dumpUniversity of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs mens hockey team

Iceberg,
As I am researching for my first receiver purchase I find your review very helpful. One area I have questions on is the ability to set up timed recording on this or other receivers. Can it change satellites and/or tp from one recording to the next? And can you connect an external HD or would you use a free standing DVR?

Proud Staff Memberyes and yes. WOrks flawlessly. But if you want to have the receiver move sats you might want to set the timer a couple minutes early to have the dish move
this model does not have the pvr capability. The 1100 does. The USB is only for channel downloads and software if you dont use the OTA option via G19And can you connect an external HD or would you use a free standing DVR?
