Star Trek was one of those shows I loved as a kid and and even more so as an adult. Remember all those times Kirk was shown pulling his boots on as the buxom alien gal was straightening her hair? Gene Roddenberry's story line had something for both generations, I especially rember the one when Kirk and O'Hura were forced to kiss by the Olympians, the first biracial kiss on TV, almost got shot down by the censors. The midget on that one was a regular on Wild, Wild, West.

I'd like to see RTV get the newer 'Trek' shows. I love all of the Star Trek series spinoffs, and of course the original series, as they all bring something unique to the Star Trek storyline. I have not seen the latest Star Trek movie by J.J. Abrams, but I've heard it is very good. I just think I'll have a problem adapting to the different actors playing such iconic characters. In the spinoffs, the characters were all different people from the original characters in future times.

A great deal of the changes in the technical world were inspired by the original Star Trek series... Computers, cell phones, satellites, ion propulsion, etc!

There was a documentary of all the inventions and improvements that Star Trek inspired. It is really quite amazing, just like the Jules Verne novels inspired space travel to begin with. i.e. "From Earth to the Moon" 1865! WIKI:

I do Love the Star Trek series and I can watch them all over and over and over again (I feel the same way about M*A*S*H).
