    Summarized from Zap2it:

The World Series took the night, but re-runs from CBS and ABC were in tight competion for second and third place.

FOX averaged a 9.4 rating/15 share in primetime to win the night (as with all live broadcasts, those numbers may change some in the final nationals). CBS was a solid second at 8.5/13, and ABC was not far behind at 8.1/13. NBC, which also featured repeats in two-thirds of its lineup, came in fourth with a 5.5/9. The CW drew a 2.5/4.
    8pm
    #1 Ugly Betty, 8.9/14
    #2 World-Series
    #3 Survivor clip show

    9pm
    #1 CSI Re-run, 10.8/16
    #2 World Series
    #3 Grey’s Anatomy, 7.0/12

    10pm
    #1 World Series
    #2 Shark, 7.1/12
    #3 Grey’s Anatomy, 8.1/13

Editorial comment: It strikes me that CBS and ABC do well even with Re-runs with their top shows. The World Series has been Fox’s only saving grace in terms of over-all numbers this season. Of course, I do not have access to historical data to see how Fox normally does in the fall. Kind of disappointing to me personally, since I like at least three of the Fox shows…

Fox takes Friday night with the World Series finale, but the world series as a whole is expected to “go down as one of the lowest-rated (if not the lowest, period) World Series in TV history.” Zap2it.

    8pm

    #2 Ghost Whisperer, 7.0/12

    10pm
    #1 World Series, 10.2/17
    #2 Numb3rs, 7.1/12
    #3 Law and order, 6.0/10

    Rocky’s editorial:
-- Expect Fox go back to its normal 4th place position now that baseball is over.

-- Sweeps are upon us. Should be interesting to see what November holds for us before the December season breaks...

    'Heroes' Continues Climb on NBC

    Source TVWeek.com

    By James Hibberd
NBC's good news/bad news Monday performance continued this week with "Heroes" once again climbing to a new perch at 9 p.m., only to be followed by a disappointing performance for the10 p.m. drama.
    Story continues below...
    OAS_AD("Middle1");

The twist this week was that instead of struggling "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" occupying the later slot, NBC gave Tuesday night underperformer "Friday Night Lights" a shot. "Friday" scored a 3.5 among adults 18 to 49, according to preliminary Nielsen Media Research figures, a number that might change due to a one-minute "Heroes" overrun. That's an improvement on its Tuesday performance, but 8 percent lower than the average "Studio 60" episode—and with less competition since CBS's "CSI: Miami" was a rerun (4.3). "Heroes" drew a 6.4, its largest audience to date among all key demos and, along with "Deal or No Deal" in the 8 p.m. slot, helped NBC win the night with a 4.9.

Second-place CBS had its two-hour sitcom block, all in reruns, with "Two and a Half Men" (4.1) at 9 p.m. continuing to lead the pack, "The Class" at 8:30 still the weak link (2.5) and the 8 p.m. "How I Met Your Mother" (3.0) and "Old Christine" (3.3) at 9:30 performing solidly.

ABC (2.9 for the night) and Fox (2.8) were close for third place, with "Justice" on Fox garnering gains over last week's 9 p.m. time period premiere to score a 2.5. "Prison Break" had a 3.6 at 8 p.m. ABC's shows were all about on par, with "Wife Swap" at 8 p.m. scoring a 2.6, "The Bachelor: Rome" a 3.2 at 9 p.m. and "What About Brian" a 2.9 at 10 p.m.

The CW's comedy block scored some demographic gains, with "Everybody Hates Chris" getting a season-best 1.4 and "All of Us" (1.3) matching its season high.

People were eating candy and not watching tv…

ABC averaged a 10.0 rating/16 share in primetime, rather easily beating second-place CBS, 7.6/12. FOX took third with a 5.9/9, edging NBC's 5.7/9. The CW trailed with a 1.7/3.

In the adults 18-49 demographic, ABC's 4.1 rating held off FOX's 3.9 for the top spot. CBS, 3.2, came in third, followed by NBC at 3.0. The CW managed only a 1.2.
    8pm
#1 Dancing with the Stars, 12.9/21
    #2 NCIS, 10.0/16
    #3 Standoff, 3.1/5
#4 Friday Night Lights, 2.6/4 (repeat from Monday night)

    9pm
    #1 Dancing, 14.0/22
#2 House, 8.7/13 (strong numbers for Fox)
    #3 The Unit, 7.1/11
    10pm
    #1 Law and Order:SVU, 8.7/15
    #2 Boston Legal, 6.9/12
    #3 CSI:NY repeat, 5.7/10

Rocky's editorial - too early tell if FNL will gain from the Monday tie-in; the show was a repeat. Standoff did dismally. People like these silly Dancing shows.

ABC Wins Week 6 Despite Fox's World Series

    Source Tvweek.com

    By James Hibberd
The World Series gave Fox a significant ratings bump, but it wasn't enough to challenge the Big 3 networks, which continued to dominate the fall season in Week 6.
    Story continues below...
    OAS_AD("Middle1");

ABC led with a 3.9 average rating for the week ending Oct. 29 among adults 18 to 49, according to Nielsen Media Research. CBS (3.6) and NBC (3.5) battled for second.

Fox won three nights during the week with a trio of World Series games and boosted its average for the week by 21 percent compared with the same period last year. Fox's gain also helped drag the other networks down slightly compared with last year. Yet Fox still came in fourth with a 3.2. The CW had 1.5.

Among total viewers, CBS once again led with 12.3 million average viewers, followed by ABC (11.4), Fox (10.0), NBC (9.7) and The CW (3.6)

    Weekly and Season Summaries

Zap2it provides a nice set of tables providing overall data for the week, season, and cable, plus syndicated shows, and sports.

    Here are the URLS

    Weekly

    Season to date

    Cable

    Syndicated

    Sports

I find it telling how strongly Disney does in the Cable ratings; LOTS of kids watching things like "Suite Life of Zach and Cody" (a favorite of my 9-year old for sure, although he is also passionate about Dr. Who! ) Alas, BSG doesn't even make the list...
