    2-room Glorystar setup?

    ADVERTS 1
Is it possible to have a 2-room Glorystar setup, as is with DN, using only one receiver, to view two different channels simultaneously? Or do you need two Glorystar receivers and a switch of some kind like a DP34?

Can someone expand on a 2-room Glorystar system; equipment, switches, etc?

    Thanks,

    Bob

Right now you can setup a Glorystar system for one room for one dish for one receiver - IF you are aimed at both AMC 4 and Galaxy 25 satellites. If you ONLY want programing from one of the the satellites - then you can use a dual feed LNBF and through the use of switches set up multiple rooms. Each TV will need to have it's own receiver.

There has been work by SatelliteAV to develop a LNBF that would allow for multiple TV/receiver sets utilizing one dish to view both satellites. So far there is not an answer for two Satellites, one dish, and multiple TV/receivers.

These receivers are built with two tuners in them and one of them is controlled by a UHF remote. They use 2 diplexers to be able to feed the box with one cable. This way, they only run 1 coax to each TV.

The STB's that Glorystar uses do not have this capability.

That is not to say that there is not a solution to a two room setup, but, you cannot do two rooms, 1 receiver and two different channels.

You can use a dual output LNBF on a motorized dish. Installation is tricky to say the least. I recommend professional installation and finding someone that has done it before purchasing the motor. This will allow two different receivers in two different rooms with two different TVs. The TVs can watch different channels but the channels must be on the same satellite. For example, the channels may be different but they both have to be on AMC4 or Galaxy25 or whichever satellite the dish is pointed at. In this set up there is a master receiver and a slave. The master receiver will choose the satellite and the slave is free to choose between the channels on the satellite selected by the master.

Is that too confusing? My answer is, yes it can be done. It is not ideal. It is not easy.

Another option for a two room system is purchasing two dishes and two dual standard LNBF and aiming one dish directly to each satellite. This setup would compatible with current Glorystar firmware and the DVR to be released.
