    Galaxy 19 Issues?

    ADVERTS 1
Anyone else having problems holding the signal from Galaxy 19 today? Mine keeps blanking out every 10 to 15 minutes, from good signal to absolutely no signal. Then boom, it is back to normal. This is the first problem I have had since upgrading my system to the tw-room, so it has worked fine up until now.

It is just as sunny and clear as can be here in Upstate NY today. Is there any sunspots occuring today or is it just one of those satellite things (or is it just me)?

I noticed 12115 & 12177 were two big ones. Just had done a reblind scan and noticed that those 2 TP's went dramatically down in signal quality

I wonder if that is why GCN TV is still dark. It is showing signal, but no picture or sound. Hope Galaxy 19 doesn't mess up too much, all the good channels seem to be migrating there now.

that could be due to uplink issues

time signal is 1 hour and 2 minutes off on 12115 for past several weeks

    Greetings all,
For the past few weeks both of my receivers:

    - DVR-1100c
    - Fortec Mercury II

are showing the wrong time. I know my receivers
are set correctly. I live in St Louis, MO (CT). And
both units are set up for AUTO time update. With
Summer MODE. I first noticed this problem a few
weeks ago on my DVR-1100c. Then later noticed
on the Fortec Mercury II too, when I tuned it to
the 12115 transponder. It did the same thing,
displaying the incorrect time. Being exactly 1 hour
and 2 minutes off ; So both my DVR-1100c and
Fortec Mercury II are getting the INCORRECT time
    from 12115.

I automatically assumed that Glorystar would get
hundreds or thousands of complaints about this
error on the 12115 transponder. So I let it go.
And decided to Manually SET the time on both
receivers til Glorystar got enough complaints. But, today
I went back into the receivers to set both back to
AUTO. And surprise, its still wrong time. I am
guessing that either no complaints were received
or everyone assumed the same thing as me.

Well, its been a few weeks and the TIME is still wrong.
You might want to investigate this. Or did Glorystar do this
on purpose to see how many complaints would
pour in? Perhaps a test? I would assume that Glorystar
    did not know about it.

I brought this up a couple of threads down and Glorystar gave a brief explanation as to why. I do not believe it is in their power to fix it, for it is controlled by the satellite uplinking (I think that is how I understand it).

Check out either the thread below this one, or the one below that and See the response.

    time signal no good

    Greetings,
I am sad to see this. Because it will kill the whole idea-concept of successful DVR deployment by a program provider. Two things are key to make DVR work:

    - Accurate time signal
    - Accurate EPG data

The only other resolve is manual recording and manual time set.
    Which requires going out on the internet and searching for it ;
if the programmer actually has an online program schedule.
This results in extra hassle ; lots of it. And will quickly become old-
tiresome to the end-user. And eventually the end-user will give
up in fustration ; barring a few die-hards.

Unfortunately, I see alot of people that were waiting for the various
services to (launch) ; to now become quickly disappointed,
and loose interest. Glorystar has to realize that many potential DVR customers were/are waiting for the launch of all of this so they could see the early-adopters opinions and results with the service. So they could judge for themselves if they wanted to make that kind of investment in DVR equipment.

So far the result ; is no easy to use DVR device. No easy to record DVR. It will not be realized unit the EPG is turned ON with accurate schedules ; and the TIME signal is in precise alignment.

    Time signals...
I have 7 atomic radio clocks in my house operating on WWVB ; all with battery backup. 3 of those are weather monitors ; and 1 of the weather monitors is actually a fully operational weather station. Getting accurate time signals I would think would not be a big deal. I know of 5 easy sources:

    - Internet Time Synch (Any windows computer - 24/7 - anytime)
    - WWVB (nightly synch on 60Khz)
    - WWV & WWVH on 2.5, 5, 10, 15 & 20Mhz)
    - CHU (Canada) on 3.330, 7.850 & 14.670Mhz
    - Any GPS receiver (with minimum 3 satellites locked)
(All of these sources provide the highest most accurate time possible)

Listen, I am not downing Glorystar for this. I do hope they get more cooperation from the various program providers who seem to be squabbling over petty issues. I want Glorystar to succeed too. But, I can not help being a skeptical consumer too.

Sometime in the past few days the uplinker incorrectly reset the GMT time reference. We were not advised of the incorrect time setting until reading this post.

The time setting will be corrected shortly.
