Mercury II Foretech Star Remote
ADVERTS 1
I have been told that Foretech Star is no longer available in North America. Can anyone confirm this? It seems that my remote control locks up and must be reset by removing the batteries and discharging the voltage. It will then work for a while before requiring another reset. A new remote is really what is needed. Does anyone have a clue where a remote can be obtained?

Fortec Star no longer distributes products in North or South America.
Visit SatelliteAV or Glorystar websites. Satellite AV performs factory service and has a wide selection of Fortec Star parts.

Hello,
I have 3 Mercury IIs and 2 Lifetime Ultras. I was able to get all the Mercuriy IIs with the tps and channels. The Lifetime Ultras are more difficult. Glorystar folks were very helpful in sending a new remote for it, but the receiver still was extremely obstinate today. It didn't respond to the remote predictably and left me for a long time displaying only a list of different languages to choose. Exit seemed not to work. After many reboots, I was able to install 11842 channels. I was able to delete the channels with other languages. I am going to reconnect it now and try to add 12022, and would also like to add some more.
A little support on adding tps on this receiver would be appreciated. If there is a thread on here describing this, please advise. Thanks
Bill

1. Press menu and highlight "TP Scan", press OK.
2. Highlight "Frequency" and select an existing TP then skip to step #6 or enter new frequency using the remote numeric keypad. Example: 11842
3. Set polarity. Example: "Horizontal" by pressing the left arrow on the remote
4. Highlight "Symbolrate" and enter The Symbol Rate. Example: 22000
5. Highlight "Edit" and press OK
6. Now press the YELLOW button on the remote (says Calendar under it) 5 seconds later you will have the channels scanned in!

Thanks Brian,
I reconnected this receiver here at home. I think it was cold from being in Bob's truck. 34 degrees was the high today. For wome unknown reason, it would not respond. After it warmed up, it responded to the remote inputs. The directions only tell me to install 11842. I was able to guess my way past the 'delete' command, then add 12022 with the correct symbol rate and polarity. Adding that tp was my question. I also found my way around to deleting the channels I don't want. I remembered your direction to add tps.
I also found that some channel names are not correct in the listing on this older receiver. I was able to identify them and keep them, (Russian TV instead of RTNews).
Thanks again.

I even figured how to rename the Russian TV channel.
The directions refer only to one specific generic application. It takes much more to take a receiver that was once programmed for AMC4 and who knows what since and make it work for specific programming desired by an individual user now.
:-)
