Hopper blocker
ADVERTS 1
Spoke to a tech today at local satellite store...
They had a hopper and joey they had been shown and the one big complaint they had was that the remote is uhf...what is the big difference between that and ir???and is that a deal breaker???
he also said there will be a hopper blocker (I'm not sure thats the exact name he used) but he told me you will be able to block others in your house from seeing whats on a certain hopper ( I'm assuming thats after dish releases the software to pair hoppers together)...just wanted to know if anyone else had heard this
Thanks in advance

Yep. It's called an isolator.

Yep. Isolators have been around long before Hopper.

Why would they complain about the UHF remote? Dish has been using UHF remotes for years.
Here's an image showing an isolated Hopper/Joey setup from this thread.

Yeah. I don't understand what the issue would be with the remotes.

Seems odd. I have a 922 and the remotes are similar and work great.

I think the UHF remote is a HUGE improvement over any IR one, and the new ZigBee one for the H/J should work even better.
