Couple Sues ISP Over Erroneous Info Given to Police
ADVERTS 1
A Wichita couple is suing Cox Communications over wrong information the company provided that led police to accuse them of receiving child pornography.
Brian and Sarah Doom say they were interrogated for hours and it wasn't until later that week that police learned of the error by Cox, the couple's Internet service provider.
So now the Dooms are suing Cox for invasion of privacy, breach of contract, defamation of character and "outrageous conduct.'' They're seeking unspecified damages for emotional distress and lawyer fees related to their dealings with police.
A court order asked for a home address linked an Internet address police suspected of receiving child porn. The Dooms' lawyer said someone at Cox typed in an Internet address different from the one provided by police.
