Time Warner Cable has moved two stations — The Game Show Network and The Outdoor Channel — from its digital-cable tier to a new “sports and games” tier, as of today.

The impact? Digital subscribers will have to pay 70 more cents a month if they want to add the new tier. Subscribers without the digital tier will have to pay $4.50 a month to get the sports-and-games tier.

Time Warner Cable spokesman Dan Santelle said the new tier reflected the company’s move toward more family-friendly programming. The sports-and-games tier broadens the types of programming that will be available, he said. More programs should be added to the tier in the future, he said.

Time Warner also launched a 15-channel family-friendly tier this week for households that don’t want the 71-channel expanded-basic package.
