More than 300 Adelphia employees remaining in acquired areas

FINDLAY - Cable television ownership changes are coming to Marion as early as next week.

Time Warner Cable has announced the acquisition of Adelphia Communications systems in Ohio nears completion. The company expects to begin serving area customers as early as Aug. 1.

The local area will be served by the Time Warner Cable Mid-Ohio Division based in Columbus. Division President Rhonda Fraas said there will be few changes in service in the near future. Prices, customer service contact information and payment methods will remain the same.

She said it will take time to make changes needed to transfer customers to the Time Warner network. Once the company has a timetable for the changes, customers will be notified what to expect.

Fraas said the company has secured agreements to continue offering all of the channels previously carried locally by Adelphia with the exception of ESPNU. That channel will be replaced with a new channel, Current. Current offers unique content on wide-ranging topics such as technology, fashion, music and politics.

With the acquisition, Time Warner Cable Mid-Ohio Division will provide service to more than 330 communities in 22 Ohio counties formerly served by Adelphia. The company will now own and manage cable systems serving 14.5 million subscribers.

Customers will begin to see the Time Warner Cable name-on-building signs, employee uniforms, and in customer communications, she said. Nearly all former Adelphia employees have accepted new positions with Time Warner Cable, including more than 300 in the Mid-Ohio Division who will remain based in offices located throughout the acquired areas.

Time Warner Cable provides advanced video services and also offers Road Runner High Speed Internet service, and digital phone.

Fraas said the Mid-Ohio Division expects to begin the gradual deployment of these advanced services.
