    Locals in HD by cable

    ADVERTS
The local cable co. is now offering local channels in HD. The receiver must be capable of receiving QAM signals on the OTA digital cable input. My question : is the VOOM receiver capable of receiving the QAM signal on the digital antenna input????

The VOOM receiver only has an ATSC tuner meaning that it can only decode 8-VSB or digital OTA signals. It does not have a QAM tuner and therefore cannot decode anolog or digitally encoded cable channels. Sorry. Also, the VOOM receiver does not have an NTSC tuner so it cannot decode analog OTA signals.

Some cable companies pass-through 8-VSB without conversion to QAM, but those companies are few and far between...and doesn't apply in your case. However, the VOOM tuner should work just fine given this scenario.
