Thread: Parental Code - I think I know the answer

I bought a box off ebay and cannot get to the scan channels area because there is a parental code set.

Is there any way to reset this or do I have to try the 10,000 combinations to guess the code?



0000 doesn't work nor do 1111 2222 3333 4444 5555 6666 7777 8888 9999

0000 worked for me. You may have to contact the seller. He may have put in a special code.

No, I am afraid there is no other known way.

ok, I have done every date code and 4 digit year back to 1941...

About ready to give up. Maybe I'll try 9990 too since you typed it... hehe

Well, now you know why they had no way to test it...

Believe it or not....and on the 20th page of 20 possible pages of code combinations.....I cracked the code. I did find a workaround for the 1 minute wait time between 3 wrong code attempts....if anyone is interested.

If the receiver is an 811 hd and you have the owners manual and the receiver is already activated call dish and give them your info ie name addr acct# and they can transmit an update to clear it which takes about an hour to an hour & 1/2.
