PBS OTA causes Voom reboot.
ADVERTS
I have had Voom dsr550 rcvr since 12/05 and got great local OTA SD and HD here in Houston. PBS, 8-1 was a fav chan until thsg weekend. Going to 8-1 HD started to cause the voom to reboot. I put 8-1 on hide, and everything else worked ok, including 8-2 PBS SD. My 2nd voom unit for backup arrived on Monday. Hooked it up, scanned for local, and wham, does the same thing on 8-1. Called KUHT, the PBS station and talked to an engineer. He said they put on a new multiplexor for guide info that they had had problems with before on on Friday night. He had me hold while he went and bypassed the new box. Came back and had me activate 8-1 and it worked as before! He is to report the problem to the maker. This is a potential problem anywhere they use this maker's box. or any equip that does not test for impact on voom users.

VOOM box relies on PSIP data for station identification. Unexpected data in the PSIP stream may cause errors and a reboot.
