Does Jay write his own jokes?
Speaking of joke stealing back around 1988 I went to a comedy club in California . I was being served and saw a photo of Robin Williams with a caption that said don't perform if you see this man come into the room. I asked the Waitress what that was all about and she said many comedians have said Williams comes into a bar and steals jokes from the less known comedians. I didn't know what to think about that but years later I saw more evidence of it. One of many examples was when Ray Ramono did a bit on Letterman and the next day Robin Williams did the same bit word for word. You could see that Letterman was not very happy with.

Jay has writers, does Gawker have proof that they (the writers) didn't add those jokes? at least Jay isn't sitting at home twittering now like the host that failed...

The one who was paid 8 figures not to work for that network again? This was a NBC failure, not that of any particular talent they have. The biggest problem they had was the 10pm show and the near-revolt from affiliates, not the Tonight Show.
Figures are out btw, 6.6 million viewers, less than Conan's debut, less than his average viewers on his final week at 10pm. How quick will that drop once the 'oh Jay is back lets watch his first few episodes' viewers stop tuning in?

Conan started losing the ratings before Jay started at 9 so that doesn't wash... and the last week's ratings was people watching to see what the "lame duck" would do...

What's the spin though when something similar happens to this incarnation of the Tonight Show?
Jay's 10pm premiere - 17.7m (show failed)
Conan's Tonight show premier - 9.2m (show canceled)
Jay returns to the Tonight Show - 6.6m (after 3 weeks of olympics commercials)

Goodness, I can't wait until Coco comes to Fox. Jay is such a brainless, robotic, unoriginal drone.

I guess that we all have our own tastes. I did watch the return show and I found it pretty trite. Please no flame war. I am just saying that there are people that like Leno and others who are just left cold by him.
