Can a voom receiver that has never been activated be activated by installing a active card and a 8vsb module? I see new units on Ebay but the sellers act totally dumb. I am a new member and hope I am in the right place to ask question.

No the card is no longer very important because VOOM subs cannot be
purchased anymore. You do need a card in the slot though I believe.
However, the receiver itself had to have been authorized until the plug on
VOOM was pulled or you will get a picture block screen saying essentially
that the receiver is not authorized......

No, the box cannot be activated by replacing the card. You need to make absolutely sure that it was activated before and never deactivated. If the seller cannot guarantee that, DO NOT buy it!Ilya @ SatelliteGuys.us
