| | | Is Sadoun selling an outdated DVB-S2 PCI product?
Good thing I caught this when I did to prevent a possible mistake. I just ordered the below product (thinking its the current PCI DVBWorld DVB-S2 product being manufacturered)
Sold in places like here: eBay ?? : DVBWorldDTV DVB-S2 PCI2004D (?? 160363670059 ???? 2009-09-29 16??54?20?)
What's confusing is that Sadoun has the logo splashed all over that new product their PCI product: DVB-S2 PCI 2004C WorldDVB* DVBWorld HD Satellite Receiver
...but the picture of the product is the old model that's not being made anymore. It's possible that Sadoun simply hasn't had the chance to update the picture and info of the new product. I know Sadoun frequently buys from the Manufacturer directly with access to their latest catalog of PC DVB products (anyone with google search does); so, it would be hard to believe they would purposefully try to sell outdated products to customers.
Anyway, after I placed my order, I promptly replied back asking them to make sure I dont get an outdated product; and, I get the current model made by DVBWorld. If they dont sell the current model; or, not have it in stock, I'll have to canel my order and buy it from somewhere else. It would takes about 3 days to get it with expedited shipment to get it within the week from their Hong Kong location.
Thanks,
MKANET

Yeah, I saw that. And, when you go to their website, they have the "New" logo. However, the picture is a picture of an old product that hasnt' been manufactured for some time. The new PCI/PCIe boards use the red PCB, not green; with respective newer technology. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt that they are selling the current new model; as, I know they just recently ordered a whole line of new products in their inventory; and, would have had the option to purchase the current model PCI cards; instead of hoping customers dont notice that what they have are the older model. I'll hopefully know right away tomorrow morning (Monday). Quote:

mkanet,
The PCI receivers we currently have are almost 4 months old. So, I would say they may not be the latest and greatest from the manufacturer. If you want to confirm, please call our office in the morning and ask them to verify the model # chip # for you.

I think the red PCB ones (in the PCIe and PCI) were both released around the same time. But, for some reason only the PCIe (version E) is on your website and PCI (Version C) is.. completely skipping the PCI equivlent of the PCIe (Version D). I'll call in the morning.. hopefully whatever it is, I can expect to get a current version one way or another.
Thanks for he info... Quote: | mkanet,

If you're the store owner, I'm hoping you would consider helping your store to make sure they sell the current PCI model produced by DVB World (the ones with red PCB are the new models). Hopefully, you wont try to sell off older models before ordering current products.. or you may have a hard time selling the older version; unless, at a severe discount.
PS: The newer model supports the MagicCard CA reader (which usually comes with the product)

| | | Hmm.....
Okay, something very fishy is going on...
Shortly after my post here, the DVB World conveniently redesigned their website to remove their current DVB-S2 2004D PCI product; skipping the "D" model.
However, I was smart enough to get the URL which is still there: DVBWorld (will probably be removed after this post) |

Pls show more tolerance to the manufacturer. Both versions are said to work great, but Montage chips add stable higher SR processing, more modulation choices, etc. - the stuff not yet available in N/A broadcast anyway. There's nothing wrong with selling various versions of the same product simultaneously, if somewhat price differentiated.

Im not sure what you mean by tolerance. I just simply pointed out what happened; which is pretty odd. Just hours within the time I inquired about what appears to be a current product from a reseller in the united states (which does a great job BTW), DVBWorld's site gets mysterious rearranged with that item missing. I'm sorry if the perception is that I'm trying to cause trouble. I would just prefer to get the newer product if that's a possibility. It makes sense to at least try to buy whatever is the newer product; at least, that makes sense to me. Quote:
