Best Compression/RG-6 combination for 2450 MHZ IF

Sponsored Links
I'm currently developing VSAT IF bypass cables (RX and TX) for a special purpose application. This cable is about 2 meters long, and must reliably operate outdoors in all conceivable weather. Tech details include: 75-ohm, IF, less than 1-watt, Male BNC on one end, Male F on the other. Both connectors should have it's own center pin (not the coax center conductor), and I'd rather it not be hollow/sharp at the end of said pin. (unless someone here can tell me why I see such center pins abounding)

I built a couple that work for "proof of concept", but need to refine, and implement it for about 300 terminals. I'm partial to TnB compression for connectors, and Belden/Times for copper. The VSAT in question employs Times LMR-240, standard Ku PLL LNBs (NRJ series) Xicom 25W SSPA, and iDirect remotes.

I'm on week three of my search, and have had little luck; too many sites, too many posts, too many salespersons. (and of course, an "obviously quirky" application). Just trying to find the best overall “fit”; Z vs Connectors vs Copper.

(NOTE: I am sorry I realize this is a vendor forum now, if my post is inappropriate, please delete it.)

Why the requirement for not-sharp center pins?

I have heard from video engineers that these products are the cats meow:

Belden SDI cable (Like Belden1694A for non-plenum use) in RG6.
(or 1505A in RG59, or 7731 in RG11)
http://www.bluejeanscable.com/pages/...s/1694tech.htm

Canare 3 part crimped F and BNC connectors:
http://www.bluejeanscable.com/pages/...anarefconn.pdf
Canare Corp.: BNC Crimp Plugs: 75 ohm BNC Crimp Plug(BCP-C Series)
Canare Corp.: F Crimp Plugs: 75 ohm F Crimp Plug(FP-C Series)

I ordered all mine, and the $$$$ tooling for it all from Multimedia Services, CD & Video Duplication & Replication, & Certified Cables | HAVE Inc.

Not sure about your environmental concerns (or really anything else besides the fact that these are nice 75 ohm gear with low insertion loss and good characteristics )

I hear some people are using cheap Paladin tools to work these.

I did my entire house in this Belden cable and these Canare connectors. I also use the RG59 for short cables and interconnects. These connectors are a pleasure just to hold and look at (geeking out here).

They also have stranded center conductor equivalents for super flex cables.

I thought this was an area to get help from Sadoun. That explains why no one (except you) posted a reply.

I'm trying to get the best cable/connector match. I have ideas on both, but do not know which of each work best together... outside.

Not-sharp center conductor: I'm convinced these center pins score and otherwise damage the female connector it connects to.

Compression Connectors: Don't want crimp; not convinced it's the best for outdoor application... yet.

Environmental concerns: These are outdoor cables. The terminals are at every conceivable altitude and climate center. The cable must be able to perform at these extremes without failure.

Thanks for the reply.

Hi,

You could probably buy the cables and connectors and make the jumper cables yourself. Cheaper than sourcing it since this is a small quantity.
