All right, I'm turning my PS3 back on, let's speed this up a bit!

Calling SMP experts !
So i thought i'd try the SMP Windows client instead of 2 regular console clients, but i keep getting a File_IO_error.
The folding forum suggests overclocking can cause this, I have overcleocked, so for the moment im back using the regular client.
Anybody else running an overclocked system with the SMP client ?
BTW one other note for anybody else looking to use the windows SMP client, it requires you to have a windows user with admin rights and also must have a password.[fah]Gbjbany [/fah] If You Benefit from this site

Tawhite, how many WUs/day does the PS3 go through? It looks like you can crank out 574-861 pts/day, much better than the PC clients.
I had thought about getting a PS3 for the BluRay movie capability, but now I see that Formula 1 is out for the PS3 which is one more reason to think about it. Although I'm sure my son would have conniptions if I got a Playstation 3 and wouldn't let him play on it because it was folding proteins all day!
Checking the stats, I see "old" Foxbat finally got passed by jgantert this morning. SatelliteGuys.US should easily pass the 100,000 point mark sometime today (~3:00pm EDT), but more importantly, we will break into the top 3000 teams!

You can thank the PS3 for that.
My wimpy PCs don't do much for my point standings.

Ok... I have been trying to figure out why my client talks of "Frames" and not "steps." So I went to the download site, and saw that I downloaded the first one listed. The graphical WinXp client.
I don't have multiple processors, so no need for SMP, and I don't have an ATI card, so no GPU client.
Didn't figure out why it talks about "frames."
But here is what I see

Now here is the interesting thing. On the P4, which completed 1 WU, it had 5,000 frames. On the one above (on the A64) it has 50,000 frames. Even though it is operating 10x as fast (5sec/frame instead of 40sec/frame) its got 10x more frames to crunch.
I am really curious how many points I will get for this one.

if you download FAHMON it will tell you how many points each WU is worth
You can find it here
http://fahmon.silent-blade.org/index.php?n=Main.Help
It also gives you an ETA for completion.

373 points. Here's the page that explains all:
http://fah-web.stanford.edu/psummary.html
Look for the Project Number in the first column (the p2126 of your "Working on:") and look across to the sixth column to get the maximum points credited to your account.
Column eight identifies the client core, so you can identify which projects are available for the various platforms. For example, the PS3 core will generate 250-412 points per WU (it seems 287 pts is the most popular result for our members with Playstation 3s). The SMP is the big kahuna, with up to 1,760 points per WU available (and four days to complete it.)
Makes you want to go out and buy a Clovertown, doesn't it?
One of the reasons that I haven't devoted my son's PC to the cause is that it's only a 2.8 GHz P4 and I've seen it requires over 24 hours of up time to complete a WU. My wife's 1.3 GHz Celeron would probably take a week and has a fan that could levitate the minitower if set on its back, so we want to shut it off when we're not using it.
BTW, who is Douglas Morris? He is smokin', cranking out over 3,000 points in the last 24 hours! Is that you, LER?

Just loaded the SMP version on my AMD X2 4600+. I'm getting really crappy results with the P4s so let's see if this helps.
