Agreed. The Lakers have a great team. Kobe, Odom, & Gasol are a formidible "big 3." If Bynum comes back for the playoffs - - watch out.
Yeah, don't forget Derek Fisher aka Mr. Big Shot. He can still knock down 3's like no one else. With Bynum, that has to be the best starting 5 in the league.

Varajao's interior defense has been disappointing of late. Whats up with that? They do need to get a big man....I wonder what they'll have to give up.
I agree. Both Varajao and Z have been soft down low.

Yeah, DUI or not, Chaz is wildly entertaining as an analyst. He always speaks his mind which you have to respect.

    Three chosen to play H-O-R-S-E

Rookie of the Year [ame="http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=3202"]Kevin Durant Stats, News, Photos - Oklahoma City Thunder - ESPN[/ame] and [ame="http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=3450"]O.J. Mayo Stats, News, Photos - Memphis Grizzlies - ESPN[/ame], a favorite for this season's award, highlight the field for a H-O-R-S-E competition during All-Star Saturday night.

Johnson will play in the All-Star Game, while Durant and Mayo were selected for the rookie challenge.

The contest will take place outdoors at the NBA's All-Star Block Party on Saturday in Phoenix before TNT televises the All-Star Saturday night festivities.

If a player makes a shot in H-O-R-S-E, the next competitor must make the same shot or receive a letter. A player gets an 'H' for his first miss and is eliminated once he has all five letters of the word.

Players will have 24 seconds to execute their shots, and an NBA referee will rule if they're done properly. Dunking won't be allowed.

The HEAT are the front runner for the Amare Stoudemare....actually, they are the ONLY ONES willing to trade quality instead of quantity....Marion AND Michael Beasley. Personally, IF they did give up Beasley, it could be a HUGE mistake. This kid at the SAME AGE AS AMARE when he came in, is MILES more advance and he is ONLY 20 years old. WHO is to say that he cannot be BETTER than Amare AND if they did...who is to stay Amare will stay when his contract expires in 2010?

    1. Why would Phoenix want Shawn Marion back?

    2. The clock is ticking. 9 days until the deadline.........

Because he is a rental....his contract ends in 2009/2010 AND it would not be about getting Marion back as much as getting Michael Beasley.

What about Amare? How long is his current contract good for?

And you're wrong about no one else having much else to offer Phoenix. Detroit will also be an option for Amare.

Just found an answer to my own question.

Amare has an opt out clause in his current contract after the 2009-2010 season. Unless Miami expects to make a Championship run next year, why would they give up their future in Beasley for a 1 year rental?

EVERYONE from what I have read are offering marginal starters with no upside...in other words...bodies...
