Thread: NBA 2008-09 Season

Just for sh*ts and giggles, let's look at the best home starts in NBA history....
'95-'96 Bulls: 37 wins
'95-'96 Magic: 36 wins
'77-'78 Blazers: 26 wins
'08-'09 Cavs: 21 wins
The Cavs are still a ways off, but they are most certainly looking awesome at the Q this year. And you're right. Throughout 82 games, I expect a few teams to catch the Cavs off guard or not on top of their game. It's a grind.

The starts for me mean nothing really...unless you have dug yourself in a HUGE whole and came out of it.
Everyone knows by now how much I care for the regular season. I was part of the team that covered the 95-96 Bulls and they were fun to watch MORE on the ROAD than at home. IF I am not mistaken, the bulls were 39-2 at home....That was pretty awesome. But 33-8 on the road....think about that...THIRTY THREE and EIGHT on the road....??!! Are you kidding me??!!! To me...the 72-10 season WILL NOT be eclipsed ANY TIME SOON....!! And NOT because of the players so much as in ALL the moons have to be aligned and you really and truly have to be VERY lucky. No injuries....balls bounce your way...get the benefit of the doubt in any calls by the ref...not get a team when they are scorching hot...ALOT of things have to go your way.

Not too many exciting matchups tonight (Wednesday Jan. 28th).
Golden St. @ Dallas is the nationally televised game tonight on ESPN @ 9pm.
CeltsHD, we softened up the Kings a bit last night for you. Time to finish them tonight. Poor, poor Sacramento. A brutal 2 game stretch.
Looking forward to Thursday though, we have a great TNT double header in store for us.......
Cleveland @ Orlando 8pm
San Antonio @ Phoenix 10:30pm
Rumor out of Cleveland has Zydrunas Ilgauskas possibly coming back for Thursday night's game. Having Big-Z back is definitely a welcome sign, but a matchup against Dwight Howard will be quite a daunting task in his first game back.

With that Lakers loss, the Cavs are back atop with the best record in the NBA.
Also, an interesting observation. The Lakers have had an extraordinary amount of home games so far this year. They've played 27 at home and only 17 on the road. I wonder if their record is a bit skewed because of this lopsided schedule so far?? One thing's for certain, the Lakers second half schedule will go along way in determining their legitimacy. They have A LOT of road games coming up.

Damn! you're right!"Winning big games ON THE ROAD is the signature of a clutch QB." BillD
There's more to playoff success than just winning. Sometimes, you have to go into enemy territory outside your stadium and walk the walk.

Actually, the Milwaukee/Indiana game could get interesting as this is marks the return of Kelvin Sampson to Indiana since he resigned as IU's basketball coach, leaving that team in shambles, and has just appealed the punishment the NCAA handed to him of not being allowed to coach college ball for 5 years.
Sampson is now an assistant coach for Milwaukee.
There are still a lot of disgruntled IU fans out there who would love to take a shot at him!!!....
Hell, there are a lot of people around here who still haven't gotten over Bobby Knight being fired!!!!...
