Question about championships
ADVERTS
The Bruins have the best record in hockey (39-8-7 after today's OT loss to the Flyers) with 85 points. Obviously, there's a long way to go before we crown a Stanley Cup winner, but the Bruins have to be considered up there with favorites Detroit (IMO, STILL the team to beat) and San Jose.
IF the Bruins win the Cup this year, all four major Boston sports teams will have won a championship in THIS decade:
Patriots ('01, '03, '04)
Red Sox ('04, '07)
Celtics ('08)
That brings me to my question:
Has any market ever won all FOUR major sports championships in the SAME decade?
Off the top of my head, New York came the closest in the '90's:
Giants- won the Super Bowl in 1990-91
Rangers- won the Stanley Cup in '94
Yankees- won the World Series in '96, '98 and '99
The Knicks came within a game of winning the NBA Finals in '94, losing to the Rockets in 7 games.
The Los Angeles market has come close THIS decade:
Angels- won the '02 World Series
Lakers- won the NBA Finals in '00, '01 and '02
Ducks- won the Stanley Cup in '07
Of course, LA hasn't had a football team in this decade.
San Francisco/Oakland had three of the four in the '70's:
Athletics- won the World Series in '72, '73 and '74
Warriors- won the NBA Finals in '75
Raiders- won the Super Bowl in 1976-77
The Bay Area NHL team back then (California Seals) didn't do much.
There's probably more markets that have won three of the four, but I can't think of any.

I'm picking the Sharks."Winning big games ON THE ROAD is the signature of a clutch QB." BillD
There's more to playoff success than just winning. Sometimes, you have to go into enemy territory outside your stadium and walk the walk.

Cleveland did it in the 1940's. Of course the Cavs didn't exist then, but both the Browns and Indians won Championships in the 40's......
Browns- 1946, 1947, 1948, 1949 (AAFC Championship)
Indians- 1948 (World Series Title)
