Though not a Yankee fan, I loved hearing Bob Sheppard announce the starting lineups. I'll never forget the sound of his voice resonating and echoing throughout Yankee Stadium as He gave the lineups. Truly a Icon, never to be duplicated.

He had a distinctive voice. Every time I heard him announce the players during a game, I knew it was a Yankee game.
99 is a long time to live and 97 is a long time to work. Hopefully he has many healthy year or at least a decent quality of life during his limited time left on earth. Hopefully he can come back on occasion to do a few important games here and there.

His recorded voice still announces Derek Jeter when he comes to the plate.
