Every night is hockey night in Mississauga as Cable 10 television presents a smorgasbord of Canada's favourite sport from Dec. 27 to Jan. 2.
For the fourth consecutive year, Rogers Television presents major coverage of minor hockey over the holidays.
According to Rogers Television Vice-President Colette Watson, Hometown Hockey on Rogers Television celebrates those involved in the game.
In Mississauga, sports fans will be treated to four hours of coverage of the championship games at the 25th anniversary Mississauga Girls' Hockey League Tournament, airing Saturday, Dec. 31 at 11 a.m.
In between live game action, tune in for Rivals, a 30-minute in-depth documentary on the fierce rivalry between the Mississauga IceDogs and Brampton Battalion of the Ontario Hockey League. Rivals airs Wednesday, Dec. 28 at 9 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 29 at 11:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 30 at 9:30 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 31 at 10:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, coverage of live Mississauga Hockey League action between the Erindale Spitfires and the Port Credit Storm will be broadcast Wednesday, Dec. 28 at 2 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 31 at 3 p.m.
The Toronto St. Mike's Majors face off against the Mississauga IceDogs, Wednesday, Dec. 28 at 7 p.m.
Join Host Bina Pandya as she goes up-close-and-personal with Toronto Maple Leaf's player and Mississauga favourite son Matt Stajan, on One On One, airing Tuesday, Dec. 27 at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 28 at 5:30 a.m. and Friday, Dec. 30 at 11:30 p.m.
For the real sports nuts, minor hockey coverage on Cable 10 will also include 11 minor hockey tournaments held across the province.
Viewers will see the 2005 Toronto Royals Challenge Cup, the York Region Jr. A Showcase Tournament, the Barrie Minor Hockey Tournament Finals, the ninth annual Whitby Girls Hockey Association Tournament and the 2006 Ottawa Hockey Festival National Capital Cup.
Coverage also includes two "town hall" style discussions about the state of minor hockey.
On Thursday, Dec. 29 at 10 p.m., viewers are invited to join in the discussion during the call-in show The Politics of Minor Hockey, live from London.
Viewers will get insights from the pros when Rogers Television presents coverage of the OMHA's Our Game: An Open Forum on Hockey featuring National Hockey League greats Joe Nieuwendyk, Gary Roberts, Keith Acton, Dave Reid and others.
