New Crackle requirement to register-ROKU issues?
ADVERTS 1
Crackles's been a nice service and pretty well done thus far, with the exception of the way in which the commercials are cut into the programs with sometimes some very rough exits and re-entries to the programming.
Tonite, (not sure for how long its been this way) saw you had to "login" to get access via the ROKU. Went to their site, registered, confirmed with e-mail and can use their site easily.
Tried twice to enter info to the crackle screen on my ROKU and was told twice something was wrong with my password or e-mail. Observations: 1) The "shows the letters for a second or two" on the password is annoying. We're not talking banking here, we're talking a FREE service. A "show letters" option would help eliminate issues, especially for those with repeated letters or numbers in their info. 2) It's a mighty LONG way to register on your streaming box, if, like many you don't have a real keyboard to use. With a roku or a universal remote, registering this way is cumbersome. and finally.....
3) I know its been a long day for me, from a morning job, to overseeing a new toilet install and flooring at our offices, to a new PC install for an answering system, and the list goes on and on...but...when I try TWICE to get the login on the box to work and it says I'm wrong with my password, its not a good FIRST impression of the "new" way to use this commercial-supported service. I switched back to Netflix, and am enjoying rather than battle the login after a long day.
Anyone else having difficulty logging in, or thoughts on the above??? Maybe its just ME tonite after a long day! Not trying again tonite.Last edited by radio; 02-08-2012 at 09:09 PM.

Dish 2: Birdview white solid, motor not activated, used for W-5 programming on DSR-410
Receiver 1: Openbox S-10. Now working well with August 30, 2011 software after a long time with quirks!

I find it odd that crackle is part of soney yet they have no ps3 app for it
- 02-11-2012 09:03 AM #3Haven't tried recently but back in December logging in from ROKU was a known issue. Logging in on line worked just fine.

Tried again tonite. Same issue. Now, do I have this correct: In order to let the "people" at Crackle know I have this issue (as has been reported before by others) I have to create yet ANOTHER login to ANOTHER SERVICE called "Get Satisfaction" just to post this? NO WONDER this has been a quiet topic here. How much bother will a user go through to report a problem to a company? Granted it's "free"..but, if I'm not watching their service, and others with the same problem aren't watching their service, how many of us are NOT seeing the ads that support what could be a gangbusters-great service! Get a clue, Crackle. Your deathclock is running faster every time a user can't log in to watch on their ROKU or similar! (and no, I don't use my PC for this. My PC is for ...(gasp)...computing!

I should try my Sony streaming box. Not a fan of this thing, the remote's nicer, the USB function is cool, but the graphics for Netflix are SOOO tiny. Would be an interesting thing to try with Crackle to see if it's a ROKU-ONLY issue. I hardly ever use the SONY wireless box. It's in my office for snagging lines from movies to use on the radio as "drops."

I added crackle to my roku 2hd and had no issues without signing in to my account.

I also had the login problem. I noticed I had left myself logged in on my PC(why I had logged in to start with is beyond me), logged out on the PC and Crackle has worked flawlessly since then without logging in. Doesn't seem like it should make any difference.

I like the large variety of things to watch but hate the commercials, especially in a 30 minute episode of a classic tv show such as i dream of jeannie.

Ah, but, isn't it nice to have "free" content with only commercials to pay for it?
Services don't exist without some kind of (financial) support.
I'd like to just be able to get it back on the roku!Dish 1: Birdview white solid, motor active for FTA using V-box VII (system modified by user "nicknjen")
