| | Up to three HD-ready TV receivers, one with DVR, are included in the U200 and above packages. It says so in the link you quoted.

This is correct, however only 1 HD receiver in the house can watch HD at a time. The other 3 HD receivers will not be able to view HD while the other one box is tuned ot HD.

I was wondering/assuming I would need to pay (additionally) for it.

Ok, I guess I just had to chime in, there's my 2 cents. |
I suspect these are decisions influnced by the marketing geniuoses (sp) ?

(after all I know I can sign up for it right now @ the store csr said I could or order it over the phone btw there is a VRAD attached to a pole @ the end of my street & I have checked availibility as to active service in my area all answers came back as YES.. but can't see it live @ one of their main public selling stores |

They are offering 2 free months of TV and $50 install if you subscribe to both internet and TV services. So, try it out and if you don't like it, you can cancel |

One other factor to consider with an IPTV topology is the bandwidth that is available to video is not necessarily the same bandwidth as might be there for the actual 'Internet' connection.
I'm sure that AT&T has some massive servers around that do the actual video feeds into the users houses, but that doesn't mean that they have that same level of connection for connections into the rest of the Internet though whatever peering they do at the headends.
Of course, AT&T is planning on migrating this year from VDSL1 to VDSL2, which should really offer better speeds for people really close to the Central Offices or neighborhood VRADs.... Wikipedia Link for VDSL2
Personally, I want to see them go toe-to-toe with the faster cable services, like Verizon did with the FiOS data services.

I think that att is "putting the cart b4 the horse"...lol
