I pulled the Maxtor 250GB out of my old (owned) PVR921 and stuck it in an external USB 2.0 enclosure - it works fine.

From everything I have read here and elsewhere, the MY BOOK by WD is very compatible with the new software. Even my own experience mirrors this. I have the 250gb and I'm happy with it so far.
