    Pansat 2700A Installation

    I am a newbie!
Couple of days ago I decided to go into FTA. I bought Pansat 2700A and got from a friend Dish Network 500 Antenna with TWIN digital LBNF. Number on LBNF is reading BS1B1UP401M. At this point I am clueless on how to set it up. But before I start reading and searching, I would like to verify that the equipment is compatible. If yes, then how do I configure my receiver with antenna? Other links that explain newbie stuff would be usefull!

    Thanks in advance!

Well, if you are interested in real FTA, here are a couple of lists showing what you can receive with a 30..36" dish and a linear LNB

Menu of Channel Lists - FTAList.com

    http://www.satelliteguys.us/thelist/
Both lists have similar info, but are arranged differently.
Your Dish 500 is too small and has a circular LNB.
We can point you to a compatible LNB and dish.

If you are interested in free reception of Dish programmming, the you should really read this thread:

    Thanks for the info!
Reading further I found out that my dish is too small (as you pointed out). However, can I use these LNBs and get bigger dish? Like I said I am clueless when it comes down to technology surrounding LNBs and compatibility. Also, I am looking to save some $$ and not buy anything that I don't need. Furthermore, I found this link:

    Dish 500 DishPro Plus Twin - FreeToAirReceivers.com

These guys claim that this antenna is compatible with Free-To-Air (I was looking with some antennas that I can purchase if needed). This antenna and LNBs look identical to mine, so I was hoping I can get started with these and move onto better antenna once I know what I am doing.

Thanks for links. First two links are useful; third one is pointing to a message saying simply that no hack are allowed on this website. Is that the link you wanted me to read?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Your equipment will only work with Dish Network which is not FTA.

If you get a larger dish and linear LNB like Anole said you can pick up channels from the lists that Anole has pointed out.

The third link is because we get people who are trying to steal satellite which is not FTA, and we do not allow discussions here about that.

    Thanks!
The more I am reading, the more I am understanding the difference between FTA and "other" channels. My intention is not to get illegal access to dish network, but simply utilize dish antenna that I got for free ... some forums claim that Dish antenna are getting FTA.
Like I said, still getting informed!

    Thanks for the info though!

A few minutes searching that web site, and it's pretty obvious what their business is.
They advertize reception of Dish 110 and 119 programming, with a FTA receiver.
And they used the magic word: autoroll
That's the sort of place that gives "FTA" a bad name.
