Coolstat receiver
I have recently bought a small dish like the ones used for Direct TV. This package included 4 LNB's, a mounting bar for the LNB's, the dish and supports, and a Coolstat 6100 receiver. I am able to set the Azimuth, elevation and skew with no problems. I also have bought a satellite detector for signal tones. The problems occur with the programing with the Coolstat 6100 receiver. With this receiver, on the dish settings, I have the LNB's designated with the switch. I am able to get a Level of 85% on the satellite. There is an other indicator for quality. The only way I have been able to get both a high percentage of Level and Quality is to play, experiment with the frequencies. Is there some guidelines that you can recommend that I can use to get some channels with the different satellites? On satellite 110, and using the different frequencies, I am able to get about 60+ channels. The problem is that 2 channels are information channels, and I am able to get 1 channel. It is like a PBS channel. Everything else comes as a scrambled channel. Can you help with this programming, what frequencies I should use, and how do I get to the FTA channels?
Thanks,
Mark

I am very new to this. I am trying to get any channels. I didn't even know FTA existed until about a month ago. I am just trying to figure out how everything works.

Free to Air is not Free to Steal. Take down the Directv dish and put up a 30inch KU. You will get allot more upthere. There is not much that you can get with a directv dish and anything worth while is encrypted. You might want to go read the thread over in the FTA section on what I can pickup with an 18 inch dish. http://www.satelliteguys.us/fta-mpeg...ml#post1187324
